"The Living Bread"

1st Prize Oil Painting for the Jack Richeson Contest at Art Supply Warehouse (2010)

In this painting the sheep have gathered to receive a "living" message. That is why the grass in the mailbox is green as opposed to the grass outside. The living message of Christ is found in the Holy Scriptures and these are the scriptures that I drew inspiration from for this painting:

In 1 Peter 2:25, the apostle Peter writes "For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls."
In John 6:33 Jesus tells his disciples,"For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world"..."Jesus said to them,"I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst"..."I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh."
